Terms of Service

Last Updated: October 30, 2026

Thanks for using User Sage. These terms explain the rules for using the platform. User Sage is operated by Chaotic Domain, LLC ("we", "us"). By using User Sage, you're agreeing to them.

1. What User Sage Does

User Sage is a user research platform. You can run a study against an AI-simulated panel to test it early, and recruit real participants (your own participants via Your Panel, or screened participants via GenPop Panel, powered by Prolific) to confirm the result. Every result is always clearly labeled by which one produced it, never blended together. AI Panel results are real answers from Simulated people, useful for a fast first pass, but they aren't a guarantee of how real people will respond. It's up to you to take them further with real participants when a decision matters.

2. Your Account

Creating an Account

  • You need to be 18 or older to use User Sage
  • Give us accurate information when signing up
  • You're responsible for everything done through your account

Connecting Google Calendar

Connecting Google Calendar is optional and off by default. If you connect it, User Sage can see when you are free or busy (not the titles of your other events) and can create, change, or delete calendar events only for sessions people book through User Sage. You can disconnect anytime in Settings. Details are in the Privacy Policy.

Organizations and Teams

Signing up gives you a personal organization. You can invite teammates to join it, up to your plan's team-member limit, sharing the same pool of credits.

Connecting an AI Tool

If you connect an AI tool (such as an AI assistant or coding tool) to User Sage through our MCP connector, anything it does under your account, including running studies, spending credits, or launching GenPop Panel recruitment, counts as your own action. Treat your API key like a password: don't share it outside your organization or post it anywhere public. You can revoke a key anytime from Settings.

3. Service Access & Pricing

User Sage runs on a subscription-plus-credits model: a plan grants a monthly credit allotment for AI Panel usage. Unused credits carry into the next cycle, but the refresh tops you back up to your plan's allotment rather than adding a new batch on top of it, and on team plans that allotment is a shared pool. Credit packs are available for burst usage and never expire. Plan tiers, limits, and pricing are listed on the pricing page; check it for current numbers rather than relying on this document for them.

Your Panel (recruiting your own real testers) is included at no extra cost beyond your subscription (up to your plan's response limit). GenPop Panel (a managed panel of real gen-pop participants) draws from a separate prepaid balance in your GenPop wallet, never from your AI credit allotment. When you launch a GenPop study, the cost is reserved from your GenPop wallet up front, and any part a study doesn't use (because you stop it early or it finishes under its target) returns to your GenPop wallet automatically. Participants are paid when you approve their submissions, and submissions left unreviewed for about three weeks are approved automatically. Unspent GenPop wallet balance that isn't reserved for a running study can be refunded on request at help@usersage.com, and is refunded automatically if you delete your account. Money already paid out to participants isn't refundable.

Plans may also include limits on things like storage, active studies, or how long data is kept before it's archived. As with pricing, we'll always tell you what your plan includes rather than changing what you've already paid for without notice.

Free Trial and Promotional Credits

Each account can claim one 7-day Pro trial, with no card required. During the trial you get Pro limits plus a trial credit grant that expires when the trial ends; afterward the account returns to the Free plan and your data stays. You can connect an AI tool through MCP on any plan. On the Free plan a connected tool can plan studies with you and list your Briefs; creating and running studies, recruiting, and reading studies and results through MCP are Pro features. A key you created keeps working after a trial with Free access, and upgrading restores full access. Promotional or complimentary credits can carry an expiry date, shown when they're granted; unspent credits expire on that date.

Changes to Pricing and Plan Limits

We may update pricing, credit allocations, plan features, or any other plan limit described above at any time. For paid subscriptions, a change that reduces what a plan includes takes effect at your next renewal, and we will notify you at least 30 days beforehand.

Inactive Studies and Storage

To keep User Sage running well, we may archive or delete studies that have had no activity for 12 months. We will email the account owner at least 30 days before we do, and you can export your data or reactivate the study during that time.

Service Availability

User Sage is provided "as is." We don't guarantee uninterrupted service, and may update, modify, or discontinue features with or without notice.

Fair Use

Use User Sage for legitimate research, including through a connected AI tool via our MCP connector, which is a supported way to use the product. Don't use automated requests to work around credit limits, rate limits, or your plan's usage limits, and don't scrape or hit the platform outside its intended interfaces. We may limit or suspend access if we detect abuse or a violation of these terms.

4. What You Can (and Can't) Do

You CAN:

  • Run studies against the AI Panel and your own recruited participants
  • Share access with your team
  • Share a read-only link to a study's results, or invite someone to view them
  • Cancel or change your plan anytime

You CAN'T:

  • Share your account with people outside your organization
  • Try to hack, scrape, or reverse-engineer the platform
  • Use it for anything illegal
  • Resell credits or the service itself

5. Real Participants Are Your Responsibility

If you recruit real people into your own Your Panel Audience, whether you add them directly or they sign up through your public opt-in page, you're responsible for having a lawful basis to collect and contact them, the same way you would be using any CRM or survey tool. As explained in our Privacy Policy (§5), you're the data controller for that information; User Sage stores and protects it on your behalf, but doesn't decide why it was collected. You agree not to add anyone's personal information to User Sage without a lawful basis to do so.

If you offer participants an incentive, you are responsible for providing it and for any tax or legal obligations that come with it. User Sage can record what you gave and when. If you connect your own Tremendous account, User Sage can pass Tremendous the participant’s email and the reward details so Tremendous can deliver it from your account. User Sage never holds the money, does not guarantee delivery by Tremendous, and is not a party to what you promise your participants. Connecting Tremendous is optional.

Results links hide participants' names and emails, but their answers can still be read by anyone who has the link, so treat a link like any other confidential document and turn it off when you're done with it. People you invite by email to view results can see full responses, including names and emails, so only invite people you're allowed to share that with.

6. About Our AI Panel

The AI Panel simulates responses based on the Simulated people and panels you define. Its results are real answers from Simulated people, always labeled that way and never presented as real participant data. They aren't a guarantee of how real people will respond, and you decide how to use them. Like any AI tool, it works best combined with your own judgment. It's up to you to take results further with real participants (Your Panel or GenPop Panel) before a high-stakes decision.

7. Payments & Billing

We use Stripe as our secure payment processor for all transactions.

Subscriptions

  • Billed monthly or annually, depending on the plan you choose, until you cancel
  • If a payment fails, we'll contact you and retry the charge; continued failures may pause your account

Cancellation

  • Cancel anytime from your dashboard
  • Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period; you keep access until then

Refunds

Contact help@usersage.com within 7 days of your first charge for a refund. Renewal charges and used credits are non-refundable.

8. Canceling Your Account

You can delete your account anytime through your dashboard. Your access ends immediately, and deleting can't be undone. If you're the only member of your workspace, its data is removed. If you own a team workspace, the workspace passes to its most recently active remaining member and its subscription is canceled. If a GenPop Panel study is still running, stop it first; any unspent GenPop wallet balance not reserved for a study is then refunded. Your data is otherwise handled per our Privacy Policy. We can also remove accounts that violate these terms.

9. The Legal Stuff

No Warranties

User Sage is provided "as is." We don't guarantee it'll always work perfectly, or that AI-generated feedback will be fully accurate. See §6.

Limited Liability

If something goes wrong, our liability is limited to what you paid us in the last 12 months. We're not responsible for indirect damages, lost profits, or data loss.

Your Responsibility

If you violate these terms, including §5's requirement to have a lawful basis for any real participant data you bring into User Sage, and we're held liable because of it, you agree to cover those costs.

10. Changes to These Terms

We might update these terms as the product evolves. If we make a material change, we'll email you and post a notice. Continuing to use User Sage after a change means you agree to the updated terms.

11. Disputes

If we have a disagreement, let's try to work it out by contacting hello@usersage.com first. If we can't resolve it:

  • US users: binding arbitration in California (no class actions)
  • EU users: you can bring disputes in your local courts
  • Other regions: California law applies

These terms are governed by California, USA law, except where your local laws provide greater protection.

12. Questions?

Email us at hello@usersage.com.

Bottom Line

Use User Sage responsibly, treat any real people you recruit the way you'd want to be treated, and we'll do our best to help you get to a real answer faster. Thanks for being part of this early.

Legal Compliance Notes
