Hi, I'm David.
User Sage is an AI-assisted user research and usability testing platform. I started it to help researchers use AI without losing trust in their results.
The habit behind it comes from Toyota: genchi genbutsu, go and see for yourself. Their engineers watch the work where it happens instead of deciding from a report about it. Research usually reaches you secondhand, as somebody else's summary of a session you never watched, and you are asked to trust it anyway. User Sage lets AI look first, then shows you the session, the clicks, and the words people used. What changes your mind should be something you saw happen, not something the AI reported.
Engineers were amongst the early adopters of AI in their daily work, and designers followed. User research came later, and mostly for the last step, summarizing what people had already said. That gap is where User Sage began.
The question was how research actually starts using AI, from the first draft of a study rather than the final summary.
When User Sage was just an idea, most teams only used AI for one part of user research, the analysis at the end. Transcripts went in, summaries came out. A few teams were experimenting with AI-moderated testing. Useful, but AI stayed out of the decisions that mattered. It showed up after the fact, in the summary, instead of helping shape what to test or what to ship.
There was a reason for that. Researchers didn't quite trust AI yet. Nobody wanted to walk into a product review and quietly wonder whether the findings were real. So teams split: some trusted everything the AI produced, some wouldn't touch AI at all, and both were mistakes. What was missing was a clear line between when AI help is enough and when a decision needs real humans.
Underneath that was a second problem: even when teams wanted real human input, getting it was slow. Finding the right participants, keeping a panel warm, returning to people you've already talked to instead of starting from zero with every study. Access to real people has always been the hardest part of research. Fixing that is the other half of why User Sage exists.
I wanted to solve the trust problem first, which meant bringing AI into the whole research process instead of bolting it on at the end. It started as my question and is now a team's work. The whole company rests on one sentence.
AI output is a hypothesis, an early starting point that tells you where to look next.
Start at the beginning and let AI do what it's good at. It can draft the study, give you a quick early read from simulated people built from your own participant model, and help you try out directions before you spend time and money recruiting. Then bring what matters to real people before you ship.
And make it impossible to miss which is which: every AI contribution is labeled as AI, every human response as human, so you always know which one you are looking at. Trust comes from that clarity, not from asking anyone to take AI on faith.
Connect your AI assistant (Claude, Cursor, and more) and it can draft a study, run it against simulated people, and read the results back in one go. That works through MCP, an open standard that lets AI assistants use other tools. The setup guides show how to connect yours.
Then you recruit real participants, from Your Panel (people you invite yourself) or the GenPop Panel (screened participants we source for you). Their responses are the evidence you need for findings.
From prompt to findings
- 1
AI drafts the study
Your assistant builds it from a prompt in the tools you already use.
- 2
Simulated people
A quick early read from simulated people you design.
- 3
Real people validate
Participants you invite, or screened ones we source, confirm what matters.
Built with researchers, for anyone who makes product decisions and needs to know what users will actually do, not just what a model predicts.

There's a lot more to do, and we're honest about that. What's here already works, so go try it.
AI gives you the hypothesis. Findings take real people.
Research has always been about closing that distance. Now it can move as fast as the teams it serves.
